Botox
How does it work?
Anti-wrinkle injections have been on the market for almost 20 years. In this time they have proven to be safe and effective. Techniques, dosing, and composition of anti-wrinkle treatments have been refined over the last decade to provide clients with bespoke treatments suited to their needs. This is particularly true for anti-wrinkle treatments to the upper face.
A small injection of one of these products into a muscle will inhibit its contraction for several months. As the muscle can’t move, the skin over the muscle is relaxed. Any lines present have time to soften and even disappear entirely.
Clients usually feel the effect in 1-3 days, with maximal effect at 1-2 weeks. The time between treatments depends on several factors such as the dose administered, the duration since your last treatment, the quality of the skin and concentration of the injection. The benefits typically last 3-4 months for 95% of people. Younger clients get longer from treatments due to the high elasticity of their skin.

How does it work?
‘Dermal fillers’ is the term commonly used when referring to hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate that can be found in the muscles, joints, fat and of course the skin. It is an important element in skin repair and is responsible for retaining moisture in the skin. Sun exposure and age decrease the amount of hyaluronic acid produced by the skin resulting in lines, wrinkles, and a sunken appearance.
It is an important component of the fat pads in the face that give people a fresh, youthful look. As we age these fat pads shrink, resulting in winkles, lines, hollowing of the cheeks, weakening of the chin, and sagging of the skin.
With dermal fillers we reintroduce this compound to areas where it has been depleted. It can also be used to enhance areas where it was never abundant in the first place. Hyaluronic acid has the ability to hold 1000 times its weight in water. By injecting it, we help to plump and moisturise the skin.
The effects of treatment are immediately evident with dermal fillers, which is why they are so satisfying for the client and for the doctor! The effects last from between 6-18 months depending on the compound used and area treated.

Profhilo
How does it work?
Profhilo is a Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based product. It is described as a ‘skin booster’, as it causes our bodies to produce collagen and elastin. These compounds volumise and hydrate our skin, resulting in a more youthful appearance.
It is comprised of two elements. Low molecular weight HA and high molecular weight HA. Low molecular weight HA, released slowly into the skin, stimulates a hydrating effect. High molecular weight HA, released slowly into the skin, stimulates a tightening effect. Both compounds disperse across the entire treatment area of the face, resulting in a more generalised improvement, than when using dermal fillers.
